Oh, Boy *A Birthday Post*

*this week I will be busy with our family visiting, so I thought I'd write up B's Birthday post now to share with you all*

Tell me, 7 year old Boy with no front teeth, have you seen him?  I blinked twice and he was gone, that little fellow with the smirky smile, endless blue eyes, chubby hands.  Lanky Lad, where did he go?  I see traces of his fearless personality, his enduring confidence in you.

My first babe, I still remember when they placed you in my arms and our eyes met for the first time.  The rest of the world stood still and I counted fingers and toes and became Mom - a young, terrified girl who only wanted to do right by you.  I still do.  Even when it seems like everything I do is wrong, wrong, wrong.  You make me want to be better.

I love how you are best friends with your Dad.  I hope you two continue to be close.  He is a wonderful man - you can learn so much from him.

You have always been a great big brother, but with the birth of J I have had a front seat view of you as a big brother to a boy - and how special that relationship is.  You have grown so much just having someone look up to you.

7 is a big age (every year feels like this) and I know you'll learn all sorts of new things, building on what you already know and growing in wisdom and maturity.  I am so incredibly proud of you and the person you are right now as well as the person you are becoming.

Welcome, 7 year old B.  I think we'll get along just fine.

  1. Happy Birthday, Ben! I'm shocked that he's seven. It feels like it was yesterday that you were having Dinah, even, and I started reading your old blog. Ah, how time flies. :) He's turning into a great young man. Be proud of what you've accomplished! I think you did right by him.

  2. This post is so sweet. The pictures are beautiful and your mothering is such and inspiration.

I pulled down my blog and wanted to let you know. Now is just not the time for me. I am overwhelmed with mothering and homemaking and of course there is being a wife... I have to eliminate distractions one by one till I can focus. Just thought I should tell you since you were so sweet to link to me.

I love what you post about. I admire and appreciate that you can do it and still tackle everything else. Writing is one of your many gifts and you are generous to share it with others. You inspire me as a wife, mom and homemaker. I love reading here! :) Keep up the great work.
