An Ideal Family

I say a lot of words, and I've been thinking a lot lately.

About words and hurt and sensitivity and grace and messing up and forgiving.

Words that build up and words that tear down and the look on someone's face when the words aren't well received.

Perhaps the best place to see the impact of words is in a family.

A place where everyone loves but everyone is human and mistakes are made and feelings are hurt.  A place of differing opinions and paths and dreams but common heart and desire for closeness.

We're all grown now and its adult feelings getting hurt, deep.

We all just want to be together and enjoy eachother. Why is that sometimes so hard?

I want a grace filled, peaceful family.

My ideal is where we assume the best of the other, extend grace instead of hurt and understanding instead of judgment.  Where we truly respectfully disagree instead of getting feelings involved and hurt by differing opinions and viewpoints.  Where we choose to assume the best of people.

I use words and my words are often wrong and bumbling, messed up, unintentionally off in one way or another.  I know I'm worlds from perfection and I pray for grace from those in my family.  I hope I am extended grace and I know that others are the same - messing up, requiring grace and forgiveness for the mistakes we all make.  Sometimes taking no offense where none was meant is difficult because inside emotions are churning.  Why is it so hard to shake off that sensitive skin and give others a heaping heart full of grace?

We, all of us, need it so badly.  Perhaps its time to give it abundantly to one another.

Praying to be shown mercy and grace for all my blunderings, and to show grace to those who hurt me, too.

Is there someone who needs your grace and forgiveness?

  2. Great post! You are very inspiring!

Thanks for reading my blog, and for your comment! :) I find it interesting how closely the Lutheran church resembles the Catholic Church, considering the founder was, well, Martin Luther :) It's amazing how far the protestant churches have gone from what even their very founder intended.

God bless you and your family!
