In which I am a good girl...

...and actually finish a project.

This is my first fully completed by-the-pattern dress.  I've learned a few things along the way (never stop learning) and as usual, will be doing things differently next time around.  For example: go by measurements, not by "sizing."

Yes it is a bit big (wide) for my pixie girl, but I think it will work for next summer, which is a bonus.

I am terrified of the prospect of buttonholes, so I thwarted the process by making a crotcheted chain loop instead.  Take that, scary sewing techniques!

She took it for a test-twirl, and it works just fine.

  1. Snaps are easy if you don't like button holes. I use a hammer and a wooden spool (so I hammer the spool instead of the snap) to put them on -- they are less trouble than grommets, too.
