{Inseparable}

I've been thinking about the nature of this blog.  From it's inception, I wanted it to be about  living each day with children along side.  A natural extension of that has been delving more deeply into my creative side, working on and sharing projects in knitting, sewing, cooking, and gardening.

Somehow, along the way, it became about more than that.  It became about encouraging wives and mothers in their vocation.  And then, as if by default, faith began to make it's way into my posts.

I never intended to be blogging about my faith.  Sometimes I feel like such a baby in all things spiritual, hardly qualified to expound on religious matters.  I am wary of instructing others in their faith-walk.  But I discovered that I couldn't blog about any of it, not frugality, not children, not frugality, not encouragement and not even knitting - without faith making it's way in.

As it turns out, life how I live it, how I raise my kids, how I see the world - is inseparable from my faith.  Without faith, I wouldn't be doing a lot of what I am doing right now.  Divorcing faith from the discussion is making it all superficial.  And, for me, there is no honesty in that.  My faith is the main motivation behind what I do.

I understand that not everyone who comes across this blog will be a person of faith, or, even if they are, necessarily agree on my take on things.  That's ok!  I hope that this place is still one where you can find things that interest and inspire you.  I am grateful that you are here.  I try to keep this place from being one that creates a tense political or ideological atmosphere.  There are some blogs for that.  This is not one of them.

As always, I welcome your comments and thoughts, either here or privately via email.  Thank you so much for reading my words, for supporting and encouraging me with yours, and for giving me grace as I do my best to figure this life (and blog!) out.

I am, wholly, blessed.

  1. I have been reading your blog for over a year, and the reason I keep coming back is because of your focus on the Lord. I read because we have a lot in common (ages and number of children, love of crafts...) but also because we have the Lord in common. It is encouraging to find other mothers seeking the God's wisdom through the daily struggles of raising little children. Your writing is a gift from the Lord, so keep using it to bring glory to Him!

  5. I am a recent follower. I started following because you blog with a very attractive humility and have a heart for the Lord. Also, as you are 29 with 5 children and I am 25 with 3, I want to have a glimpse of my (possible) future!

  6. Sorry! :) I read your 'about me' and saw you were 19 when your first child was born, then did my addition (badly it seems!)

    1. No problem! I don't mind. I'd rather be thought to be older, to be honest. People ask all the time how old I am when they hear how many little ones I've got!

  7. Lydia.... I have been a reader for quite a while now. At the time, I only had one child... but despite how many children we have or don't, you speak right to a woman's soul! I now have 2 and learning a new life! I completely agree with the inseparable tie between mothering and faith. You can't do without it and I find I have a better understanding of it because I have had children. Thank You for sharing your heart!!!
