Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man...

...of mine."

When I stop and think, really think, about the life I lead on a daily basis, it is absolutely impossible not to believe in miracles.  For example, take a look at this guy.  Just look.

10 years ago this summer was the first time I laid eyes on him, and after 10 long years it seems that I am finally ready (willing?) to tell my story, our story. For so long it was something I hid away inside myself, more comfortable with the speculations swirling around me than the raw, real truth of it all.  I have a lot of guilt about the way it all went down, but there is One who makes all things work together for good.  And when I think about it, and look around, why, every where I look there is good.

This life we have is good.

I met Jason the summer I turned 16.  My dad had registered my sister and I for a Christian Worldview Conference, and we had decided it was incredibly uncool and we refused to go.  Still, as frequently happens when you are a minor, our parents won and we found ourselves in Virginia.  I wish I could say I remembered a lot about that week.  I don't.  I made some friends, giggled with my sister about all the cute boys and generally enjoyed myself.

On the last evening of the conference, we had a talent show.  Neither my sister nor I was interested in participating so we were there with everyone else, cheering on the brave few who made their way to the stage.  It was during this performance that a piece of candy came sailing from who knows where and plopped gently in my lap.  I jumped.  Not to appear completely ridiculous, I ignored it.  Then came another.  And another.  We stood to applaud someone and I turned toward my sister, but my eyes were up a few rows.  And there he was, smiling broadly.
