A Knitting Sort of Day

Today is a knitting sort of day. You can tell by the grey skies and the undeniable urge to stay in jammies under a snug quilt all day long. Thankfully there is leftover pie from last night's dinner and fresh coffee brewing. Lighting a candle my son bought me and finishing up some projects today.

First up we have Joboy's Thorpe. I made one with worsted doubled that turned out huge! I made it for B, but I think it will be handed to an Uncle instead, along with an invitation to a sledding party. Doubled worsted wool makes it incredibly warm as well as water resistant, so it is perfect for deep winter wear. I made Jo's using the most increases but with only 1 strand worsted yarn and used size 8 needles. It looks like it should fit perfectly.

B's mittens still need thumbs - something that I despise doing, but it needs to be done.

I have a fingerless mitt that is waiting desperately for his mate to be completed.

I also need to finish up the sleeves on B's sweater and weave in ends to be able to say all the children's Christmas sweaters are done.

Then of course there are the projects that need to be begun - hats and mittens for the girls, elf shoes and felted mittens for Joboy, a hat for Big J. Lots of important things, thankfully smaller in scale so they fly off the needles at a rapid pace.

Yes, today is a knitting sort of day.

  1. Lydia,
Could you direct me somehow to your homemade laundry detergent recipe? Are you still using it? Does it work well for cloth diapers? Thanks so much!!!
