UPDATED: Giveaway! The Gumbo Lily Dolls {Winner Announced}

 The winner of the Gumbo Lily Doll sweater is comment #15, LEANER!

{Due to the nature of some of the comments, it appears that some may have thought I was giving away a custom doll.  I apologize if that was the case, the giveaway is for the doll sweater pictured at the end of this post.  Again I apologize for any confusion!}

Today we have a give away from a dear friend and very talented artist, Jenny Vollmer, homeschooling Mama to 6 little ones and the creative genius behind The Gumbo Lily Dolls.

All of Jenny's dolls are lovingly handmade using natural materials.  She stocks at A La Mode on Hyena Cart and the Gumbo Lily on Etsy offering custom doll slots and  handmade doll clothes.  You can contact Jenny through either store to order a custom doll.

LJ: How did you get started making dolls?

JV: I saw Little Jenny Wren dolls online several years ago and just fell in love with their cuteness!  But, they are hard to get, plus expensive, so I ordered my first kit and made my daughter's first doll!  The first one was hard and not the prettiest doll ever, but the more I have made, the more tricks I learn and of course the better I get!

LJ:How do you balance work with family life?

JV: I put my family first of course and look to my husband for suggestions and help on occasion.  Most of my dollmaking time is done during naps and late at night, which is why I don't get too many done each month!!

LJ: What is your favorite thing about making dolls?

JV: I love to plan out their coloring; hair, skin, eyes and then coordinate their clothing to match!  Dollmaking is not easy and there are times during the making of each doll that I ask myself why I put myself through this!  Then when the completed, beautiful doll is sitting there in my hands, I'm thankful I finished!

The Gumbo Lily Dolls is giving away this sweet doll sweater to fit any 12-15 inch doll for one lucky winner.  For the rest of us, free shipping when you mention my blog.

  20. I would love a brown-haired, brown-eyed one! I'm still always surprised how very many commercial dolls out there are only available as blue-eyed blondes (it's not proportionate at all). :D
