I just finished the book "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How my mother raised 10 children on 25 words or less." It was so good, I walked straight over to my own Mom's house, pushed the book into her hands and told her to read it as soon as possible. The book was heartwarming, triumphant, funny and happy despite some less than ideal circumstances. "The Prize Winner..." is a memoir written by a daughter about her mother, and the sense of strong love that permeates the whole thing is just wonderful. I highly recommend it!
Right now I am finally reading a book a friend loaned me quite a while ago, "Holiness for Housewives (and other working women)". It is a very small, quick read, but chock full of helpful information on finding God admid the dailiness of this vocation, drawing closer, growing in holiness and achieving a powerful prayer life. I am only a chapter in, but it should go quickly and I am really trying to soak it up.
Knitting has taken somewhat of a back seat to sewing lately. I do have some yarn on order to create something special for a friend, but right now I am using up the last of this green purewool to make Peter a larger Small Things bonnet to get him through this winter. This is my very favorite baby hat pattern and it goes so quickly! I'll give it to him as a birthday present this weekend, although it will be quite some time before he needs it.
