Child-Made Christmas

Yesterday, the kids and I indulged in a bit of handwork with a Holiday theme.

We printed and cut out templates (Star here and Tree here), traced and cut out wool felt, and stitched them up.  We added a bit of carded wool to give them a bit of stuffing and made sure to leave a loop for Tree-hanging.

Crafting with a purpose is very special to my children -something they can make themselves and give as little gifts, or keep as reminders of this year.  Dinah made a few handmade cards to go along with hers before taking them around to family members.  Taking this time with them is always so rewarding for me as well - child on my lap, wooly felt in hand and needle sliding in and out.  It reminds me not to take any of these moments for granted, ever.

If you'd like to craft along with us, join in!  You'll need scissors, felt (wool or otherwise), embroidery floss and needles and scissors.  You can cut out your own shapes or use the templates I linked above.  Happy Making!
