{Still} Knitting

Today is my Jonah's fourth birthday, and in the wee hours of this morning I got the news that my amazing sister had her baby - four days "overdue," a sweet nephew sharing a birthday with my little man.  So when I woke up to sunshine, there were just so many reasons to smile.  It's a good day!

I, on the other hand, am still knitting - baby, that is, and a sweater besides.  My guess date is tomorrow, but I'm in no rush.  And knitting?  It is just another way of keeping me calm.

I cast on for a February Lady Sweater a few nights ago, and after a few missteps (my attention to detail seems to be suffering a bit...) and two go-rounds of frogging, I finally got into a groove with it.  I'm following Ginny Sheller's notes on ravelry, so far so good!  I know, I know - it's the same blue of the girls' birthday sweaters, I hope you aren't sick of looking at it.  I had plenty left over, thanks to the generosity of a fellow Raveler, so I thought a project like this would be just perfect for late pregnancy.  Big enough that chances are the baby will come before I'm finished, but if that's not the case, I'll have something lovely to wear when she finally does appear.  Win/Win, right?  The lace pattern keeps this project interesting but still mindless enough for picking up at random points during the day.

Yes, still knitting here - outside and in.  Linking up with Ginny and Nichole on this beautiful Spring day.  What are you working on?

  13. Oh sweet girl!! Soon! Soon!

I love the sweater. I have been wanting to make one. I would love one for my 6 year old, but I haven't been able to find a pattern for it in her size. I think I need to try and search some more, because I am sure someone has written it up for me somewhere. :)

    1. I made one for my 6 year old a few years back. If you look on Ravelry under the february baby sweater, and then search size 6, you can find a few people who have written down their mods to make it fit. I think Soulemama did one?

  14. Each of my babies has come at least a week (sometimes two+) after my guess date and I always love those last few days. When others seem alarmed and done with the pregnancy an you feel purposeful and happy to be letting your baby come in their own time, those are the days that really reflect our determination to follow their spirits wherever they lead us.

A beautiful sweater and a beautiful belly pic to boot. Best wishes and much calmness in the days ahead.

    1. Thank you for your comment! Today I am one day past the guess date, and it's odd how more joyful and accepting I am as time progresses. I've had 2 babies come roughly a week post guess date and while those last few days do seem a little tougher in some (largely physical) ways, each moment does seem to be a little gift - just extra time to surround yourself with all the good feelings of expectation and excitement. We are so looking forward to her arrival!

    1. Thanks Nell! Easter Sunday would be something special! We're so blessed with so many family members and supportive friends that really any time this baby decides to appear will be just fine. Even in the midst of such a busy weekend.
