This Week

This week has been a mixture of sunshine and rain, hard and easy days, hot and cold.  It's like we're dabbling in summer, dipping just a toe in to test the waters.  Is it really here?  Do we want it to be?  We spent time in the E.R. and time with fresh new babies.  Time playing sandlot baseball and time freezing in the rain, watching a Memorial Day Civil War muster.

Although last weekend was long and this work week shorter than normal, I am so looking forward to this weekend.  We need to get our screens up in the bedrooms and a few window units installed.  I've got gardening, grocery shopping, cleaning to do.  Nothing out of the ordinary, but I still look forward to those times so much when I'm not the only adult around and can get some things done while another pair of eyes keeps up with the little people.  Already I am feeling the crush of knowing that my June weekends are mostly booked - that feeling where summer is fast fleeting before it has even begun.  Camp for my oldest begins in just a few weeks, and from there we really take off into full fledged summer.  I just want to live each moment to the fullest and savor it all - I know it will go just as fast as it does every year.

So I'm making my list of Summer To Do's and getting down to the business of checking them off.  Fully committed to packing in as much goodness as possible into these almost-summer days.

  1. Your children are so beautiful! I love all your pictures and was so sad to read your post the other day about the ER. I have absolutely no confidence about how to deal with injuries so I am squeamish too, and thankful for a husband who is very steady and level headed even in emergencies!

And oh, the wonder of having a second pair of eyes around to share the burden of attention! I love those days, I get so much more done than I otherwise would! I hope you have a really productive weekend.
